International Christmas Five Course Dinner by a Commis Chef de Garde Manger (aka Chefy Daughter)

Oooo We are in for a treat today. Since this is a virtual Christmas dining event, casual attire is allowed. Ready? I'd like to introduce my Chefy Daughter:  Good Day and welcome to our restaurant. I'll be your personal chef today for our International Christmas meal.  Last week, we set the table. If you missed it, here's the link:  New  Ideas for Setting the Christmas Table   Today, we'll serve a five course meal. I'll introduce our courses one by one. May I start you off with freshly baked Challah? All our breads and pastries are baked in house and braided by our  pâtissier. Challah is a Hebrew bread that can be made any time of the year, although it usually is made to celebrate Chanukah. This bread was prepared separately in order to remain Kosher and true to the traditions surrounding this rich culture.  Please enjoy.  Photo Courtesy To begin, we start with the soup course. How We Can Help With Holiday Season Shopping

During last Saturday's shopping trip, my daughter discussed a problem she experienced while working for a store. She had some good thoughts how we shoppers can be more money wise. I asked her to share with you what was on her mind. We were told to straighten the rows of frozen pizzas, chicken nuggets, prepackaged dinners, and etc. The only equipment we needed was ourse...

Fabulous Friday Feature-Christopher Columbus

Today I welcome my adventurous, inspirational friend:  Cristóbal .   Enter to win a copy of Chris Fabry's book Borders of the Heart , see below. Library of Congress Photo Library I first met  Cristóbal in a text book while in school. I must admit our friendship tends to renew only each October. He has a very busy schedule. I don't mind, at least he squeezed in a moment with all of us today.  I asked  Cristóbal to share that day, October 12th in 1492.  After All These Years First, let me thank Mary Vee for inviting me today. From the first moment I received her request, I counted the days remaining to be with all who visit during my stay. I look forward to your comments below and will have Mary record my responses. Now, as asked, I will tell you about that day, October 12th, 1492. I remember it as though it happened today. The sea air flowed through my nostrils and whipped the f...
