The Kodak Language

Photo by Mary Vee-Hubby and daughter Cute grandparent alert- In the dining hall of a hotel, a grandma and grandpa had their great grandson with them. Okay, you caught me. They were really great grandparents...but that gets tedious to write. Not only that, who really calls that relative great grand whatever? Too many words! Looses the punch by the time all those words are out. The endearing grandma allowed the six-year-old (I'm guessing) pour creamer in her coffee, carry his own juice to the table, and kept up with a lively conversation.  All the while, Grandpa sat at the table with newspaper unfolded. The serious look caused me to think, he wouldn't spend time with this little guy. At least the little guy had grandma to pay attention to him. Boy was I wrong. I love when this happens! Little man ran back to the table while Grandma put breakfast on their plates back at the food area. The second little man plopped on the chair, Grandpa set his paper down. A smile b

Fabulous Friday Feature-Julianna Deering-The Mystery is Afoot

Today we welcome author: Julianna  Deering A commenter will win one title from Julianna's mystery series Scroll down to see how. Mary here.  I'm so  happy to welcome Julianna Deering today. I love, love mysteries. We are in for such a treat today with a mystery writer guest.  I don't want to steal Julianna's thunder or whodunit answer book, so without further ado...here is what Julianna said when I asked her:  how has God led you on your writing journey. Come, be inspired:   I Had No Intention of Ever... People are often surprised when I tell them I had no plans to be a writer when I was growing up or even when I was in college. I always loved to read, but it never occurred to me to try to write anything. Certainly not for publication. During my teen years I sometimes wrote short episodes of my favorite television shows. I guess it was Fan Fiction before such a thing actually existed, but that was just for my own amusement. When

Squashed and Rescued

A friend and Bible college classmate of mine is the CEO and Director of the New York City Rescue Mission. This friend is so dedicated to God's calling. I look forward to his posts on Facebook God has given him a very creative mind to draw the homeless into the mission. For the Super Bowl screens were set up along with chairs. A local vendor donated pizzas and other vendors provided hot dogs and chips. To me, my favorite was his report on a recent blizzard in New York City. The mayor had banned all traffic from the streets. My friend welcomed his staff and anyone--including homeless men and women--to join him in a game of soccer outside. Yes,, they played on streets usually packed with cars and trucks. This is the link to the video: Soccer in the streets of New York I've seen many executives sitting behind desks, cranking out paperwork. Maybe work that could be farmed out.  These executives miss the real action. Being with the people that are served

Fabulous Friday Feature-Leslie Gould-Connections

Today we welcome author: Leslie Gould A commenter will win a copy of Leslie's book: Amish Sweethearts Scroll down to see how. Mary here.  I'm so  happy to welcome Leslie Gould today. This talented woman cared for children, ran her home, and went to grad school, all at the same time. Talk about a tight schedule!  I don't want to steal her thunder so without further ado...here is what Leslie said when I asked her:  how has God led you on your writing journey. Come, be inspired:   Connections Made By God My first three novels were published in 2003, 2005, and 2006. They received good reviews and one, Beyond the Blue , won the Romantic Times Reviewer’s Choice Inspirational Book of the Year (2006) Award, but none of them were best sellers—or even stellar sellers, lol. I wasn’t sure if I would publish any more novels, honestly, and after a lot of prayer I decided to go to graduate school and get my masters in fine arts in creative writing. I
