Celebrate My Birthday With Me in Alaska

Photo Courtesy Yeah! Today is my birthday. So this weekend, I am my guest. And since I am the guest, I will be doing the book giveaways. Someday I will feature my own book, but, for now, I will be giving away some awesome author books to as many commenters as I can. Those of you who have stopped in to read previous posts probably know I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to travel. So, hubby searched this year's list of conferences and found one in the beautiful mountains of Alaska. And it happened to fall during this week--my birthday.  Of course I said--YES! Let's go. Everything you see in black is written before we left. Everything written in burgundy is fabulous news from Alaska! I've posted the winning photos so far.  Wow it was a really difficult choice!! Photo by Mary Vee - Alyeska Resort We, of course, will suffer in a beautiful mountain resort, will have to endure fresh caught fish for a meal or two, be dragged on board a one-day ...

Take a Trip with Me to Alaska-Come On-You Know You Want To Go!

Photo by Mary Vee This is your chance to take a virtual trip to Alaska. I am here. Right now. Yes-Alaska!! And I want you to join me. Before we land, I had a few details to take care of first. As I packaged up our materials and printed out maps ahead of time--okay I know I could use GPS, etc, but I like to see the map. One particular city caught my attention. It will be only 1 1/2 hours from one of our destinations. I'm not sure if we can squeeze it in, but wouldn't it be great to see: Seriously!! Call me crazy. I would love to slide this in to our schedule. It may take some extra smooth talking with hubby. Maybe next week I'll have a pic for you from there. Back to our adventure. Photo by Mary Vee Nestled in the valley of some great skiing mountains is the Alyeska Resort. You'll need lots of bug spray today. The mosquitos received the memo and came out in force to greet you. When you peek out the window at 2am, you will ...

Mischief, A Number Two Child

Photo by Mary Vee I walked this mountain trail on my own while daughter was in college classes. Mountains around Tucson, Arizon As a child, I tended to be the one who found trouble. I was a number two kid. Followed my older sister around, didn't mind riding out of the neighborhood on my bike, looked for ways to get out of weeding Mom's flower garden, and hated vegetables. In my own defense, I didn't know which were flowers and which were weeds. Yeah, I had a lot of talks with Dad. He did the talking, I did the listening. I loved/love adventure. If I could choose between sitting with a group of people having tea and chatting, and dragging those same individuals on a ride along a mountain pass with sheer drop offs, guess which I'd pick? Then it should be no surprise that I am having a wonderful time delving into the life of Amy Carmichael, an Irish missionary to India. On this family and kids of all ages blog: God Loves Kids, I have missionary Mondays. We wal...
