A Time To Remember A Time to Be Thankful

Every once in a while two celebration events happen on the same day. Isn't it fun? The  first event I celebrate  with you is: Memorial Day A day of parades, patriotism, and parties. Memorial Day is a time to celebrate the sacrifice of soldiers both past and present.  My family participated in this way: My husband served in the Air Force,  My father in the Army,  My brother in the Marines,  My brother-in-law in the Navy  I believe all four served during a time of war or "police action". How blessed our nation is to have the men and women who protect us. Let us celebrate and appreciate each one's sacrifice. I am thankful to you. May God bring great blessings in your life and your family's life. The  second celebration  event today is my daughter's birthday. Birthdays are always fun, but when a holiday enables family to come together and celebrate as a larger group the merriment increases tenfold.  My daughter's bir...

We Remember

Photo Courtesy We set aside Memorial Day to remember the sacrifices of the many American men and women of every race serving in the armed forces. This sacrifice has meant death for some, injury for others, and traumatic flashbacks for many. I saw a few of the Dancing With the Stars shows this season. One of the "stars" was a man who lost his left arm and his left leg while serving in the Middle East. In those few shows I watch him learn how to dance and inspire the nation with his determined spirit. The man openly admitted he struggled terribly from the moment he woke after surgery and for a long time after. It took a team of friends and family to envelope him and encourage him to keep living.  Dancing wasn't easy. He fell. He tried to wear an arm prosthesis and failed. He had trouble moving his leg prosthesis to the beat of the music. Those watching the program inspired him to keep trying with their votes. He didn't win. He came in third place....

Selah-Memorial Day

Photo Courtesy We often see the word Selah in the book of Psalms. The word Selah means: Take time to pause. Let's pause to thank those who have represented our country in the military. Both those who gave their life or were injured in service and those who returned to their homes carrying the memories of their service. Let's also remember their families and pray for them. There is one Psalm that uses the word Selah several times.                                                                                         Psalm 32 I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the  Lord ,” And You forgave the iniquity of my sin.  Selah For this cause everyone who...
