So How Do you Feel About the Election?

So how do you feel about the election?

This is the day we'll walk in your shoes.

I must admit, I am disappointed.

To me the next four years will be a difficult road.

The president may do a lot of bad things or maybe great and wonderful things. I don't have a crystal ball, and God has not made me privy to the next four years.

What I do know is, whether my choice of president won or not:

The political commercials have ended.

We had the freedom to vote

We had the freedom to talk with others about the election

We had the freedom to like or dislike the winner

We have the obligation to respect the winner
(Romans 13:1 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.)

God will guide the hand of the president for His overall plan.

God never promised us a rose garden on earth.

May God bless our country and those who live in it.

Your turn reader, you have an advantage, you know the results. What are your thoughts?

This morning after seeing the blaring news I formed the question internally, "Don't You care about us anymore, God?" I felt Him saying, "I do. I gave you heaven."

That immediately gave me reason to be joyful for today. I do not put my hope in elected officials. I put my hope in what the good Lord will do in His time and in His way.
God does care, you're right, Janice.

It doesn't mean things will go our way, it does mean the end result will be great.

Hold your faith.

Great stuff, Mary! I woke up today thinking, even though half our country is happy and half our country is sad, we ALL have the opportunity to vote...to do so without violence and fear...and that's huge. And at the end of the day, God is so much bigger than it all...that comforts me big-time. :)

I am disappointed in the election, but I also know that God knows best - He removes kings and raises up kings - No matter what happens here on earth, our Kingdom is the Heavenly Kingdom and we are God's ambassadors. We do His work no matter who is in Washington D.C.

Daniel 2:20-23

Daniel answered and said:

“Blessed be the name of God forever and ever,
For wisdom and might are His.
21 And He changes the times and the seasons;
He removes kings and raises up kings;
He gives wisdom to the wise
And knowledge to those who have understanding.
22 He reveals deep and secret things;
He knows what is in the darkness,
And light dwells with Him.
23 “I thank You and praise You,
O God of my fathers;
You have given me wisdom and might,
And have now made known to me what we asked of You,
For You have made known to us the king’s demand.”
Melissa,
I think God has a secret stash of coco for the chilling moments that disturb us. He really does love us and wants to help us through the rough times.
Heather,
Thank you for including that particular passage. You probably recall Daniel's situation when that was written. God's Word is for all time.

My facebook status from earlier today: Many of us are deeply disappointed in the result of yesterday's election. But now is NOT the time to wallow in defeat. If you are a Christian, you serve a GOD who cannot be defeated or crushed or lessened in anyway by the outcome of a political election! It's time for us to re-align our agenda with HIS. It's time for us to seek HIS WORD to get our marching orders--after all we are soldiers in the LORD's ARMY.

Turn your disappointment into action. Would GOD have us lay down our weapons and simply give up? Absolutely not! "Seek first HIS KINGDOM and HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS..." HE has not abandoned us. Let's not abandon HIM.

"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." John 16:33 NIV

What more do we need to know than that?
Good message, Beth.

One of my absolute favorite classes at ACFW this last year was the medical fiction class. That wasn't the real title, I can't remember what snazzy name the instructors gave it--BUT three stellar medical professionals, who are also Christian Fiction writers, presented great information then opened the time for questions. We students asked them all kinds of questions like what kind of poison would kill a ..., and tons of other questions. It was sooooo much fun, and informative.     I asked Candace, who was one of those fabulous teachers, to join us and share  how God has led her on her writing journey. Here is what she said: God Gave Me a Wake-up Fall The story won’t surprise folks who hav...

I asked Andrea to tell us how God led her on her writing journey. Here is what she said:  Romance Done Write I didn’t read much while growing up in my family’s suburban Milwaukee, Wisconsin home. I read what I was assigned for school, along with an occasional children’s novel like Pippi Longstocking and Little House in the Big Woods .  When I was in fourth grade, I wrote my first novel, Little Miss Mouse . My mother kept it all these years and it’s now in my possession. I laugh when I read those ten handwritten pages. At the tim...

Fabulous Friday Feature-Lorna Seilstad

Today we welcome author: Lorna Seilstad One commenter will win a copy of Lorna's book:  As Love Blooms Scroll down to see how. Mary here. I have quickly learned what an amiable person Lorna is. After only a few emails we've become great friends and found similar things to talk about. You'll see this same spirit in her post below. I asked Lorna to tell us how God led her on her writing journey. Here is what she said:  Excuses! Excuses! Moses and I have a lot in common. Oh, I haven’t led any Egyptians out of bondage, but I have looked at the path God laid out for me and rattled off excuses that would rival those of the great spiritual leader himself. You’re probably familiar with the story. God gets Moses’ attention with a burning bush, and then when He begins to disclose his plans for Moses’ future, the excuses start. ( My paraphrase of the story:) “Moses, I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people ou...
