Book Review-Catch a Falling Star by Beth Vogt

This book tells a tale we can all relate to: rejection.

At some point in our life we have been rejected for something or by someone. And while we try to cope, our hearts still hurt.

Dr. Kendall Haynes is a successful thirty something doctor with her own practice. Her investment in years of training and hours of dedication to her patients could be seen in her busy office and an unwanted status as a single female.

Sure the occasional guy came along, like Griffin Walker, military pilot who needed her professional help, even a dose of friendship, but any request for a date stalled.

Griffin wouldn't have encroached on Dr.Haynes time except his younger brother's asthma attack required her medical services. Had she not saved his life in a crowded restaurant, he'd probably never met her in the first place. And how she happened to appear when his jeep broke down in the middle of nowhere, he couldn't say. There was no room for love in his flight plan, especially after his parents suddenly died leaving him as guardian of a sixteen-year-old brother.

What seems as a delightfully woven story of two lives, soon roller coasters into braided tales of tragedy and triumph. Readers can't help but whisk pages deeper into the story, curious and concerned about events to come.

Stepping past the first page into the second I lost several midnight hours spellbound. This is much more than a story of romance, mystery, and suspense  It is a story of rejection healed. I invite you to step into the pages of this book and experience God's loving care.

Beth Vogt demonstrates her growing skills as a Christian fiction writer crafting intriguing characters and story.

This review is my honest opinion. I thank the publisher for my review copy.

And so readers, have you waded through the waters of rejection and found God's loving hand firmly holding you up?

LOVED Beth's latest book. So, so, good.

You know, I have to be honest and say I've been spared from a lot of rejection in my life. However, that makes the couple times I HAVE been rejected really stand out...and what hits me as I look back is how all along, what felt like HUGE rejection to me was God getting me ready for what came next...didn't make the rejection any more fun at the time. But knowing He had my back all along is truly awesome.
Any rejection, whether one or a thousand, as you've said is difficult to deal with. How blessed we are, as Christians, to know God has our back. It makes the dreary clouds sparse.

Thanks for stopping by Melissa.

One of my absolute favorite classes at ACFW this last year was the medical fiction class. That wasn't the real title, I can't remember what snazzy name the instructors gave it--BUT three stellar medical professionals, who are also Christian Fiction writers, presented great information then opened the time for questions. We students asked them all kinds of questions like what kind of poison would kill a ..., and tons of other questions. It was sooooo much fun, and informative.     I asked Candace, who was one of those fabulous teachers, to join us and share  how God has led her on her writing journey. Here is what she said: God Gave Me a Wake-up Fall The story won’t surprise folks who hav...

I read what I was assigned for school, along with an occasional children’s novel like Pippi Longstocking and Little House in the Big Woods .  When I was in fourth grade, I wrote my first novel, Little Miss Mouse . My mother kept it all these years and it’s now in my possession. I laugh when I read those ten handwritten pages. At the tim...

Here is what she wrote: My Journey As a Christian Romance Writer … My journey as a romance author actually came LONG before my journey with God. It happened the moment I read Gone With the Wind at the age of twelve. The instant that Scarlett seared Rhett with a look on the winding staircase of Twelve Oaks, I was hooked, and my “romance-writing career” began with a 150-page, single-spaced ms. ent...
