The Last Page of One Book

…Then the year came to an end.

What an amazing tale.

I've been chatting with you all for yet another year and have enjoyed every minute.

Whoa! The stories we've shared, and the fun company around

the fireside when the weather is cold

the beach when the weather is warm

Discussing intriguing topics about God's world

Meeting authors--and participating in their book giveaways.

Sharing needs

Praying

Blessing

As this year draw to an end, take a moment to remember how the Lord has blessed. Yes, we can all think of tragedies, and lament with each other over those moments and there is a time for that….

For today, though, lets dwell on the good and praise God for what he has given us. Help me make a list. There is no order, just add whatever pops in you head:

Home
Family
Food
Church
Salvation
The Bible
Eyes that can read
Ears to hear
Mouths to taste
Feet that can walk

Keep the list going….

And just for you!

For this week, the ending of 2013 and the beginning of 2014, I am having a book giveaway from my stash of fabulous author books. I have a stack of about fifteen books and would love to share with you. (Books by Terri Blackstock, Julie Lessman, Frank Peretti, Ted Dekker, Beverly Lewis, Tracie Peterson, Rachel Hauck, Anita Higman, Dan Walsh/Gary Smally, Kathy Herman--and more)

Leave a comment and become either a follower of my site (fifth box down in the right column) or sign up to receive posts by email in order to enter.

Two winners will be chosen from all the commenters this week. Winners will be able to choose one book from my great author's stash and announced Friday on my Facebook page: Mary.Vee.Writer

May the Lord greatly bless you in this coming year.
May the trial be manageable,
and the joys a pinnacle experience.

So many things to be thankful for - but the two that pop into my mind are friends and modern medicine (besides the ones on your list, of course :D). Have loved stopping by here and reading (even when I don't comment.), and many of those authors up there are faves. Would LOVE to be a winner :). Blessings!
Good friends is an excellent choice, Patty!
I think we consider all the friends here good friends. What a great place to gather!
Looking forward to another year with you, Patty!
Susan!
Haven't heard from you in a bit. I'm so glad you're back. Hope your Christmas season was a blessing.
Hands. Great word. And yes, using them to worship in many ways is a great idea, one that will bring you blessings and please our Father.

Looking forward to seeing you a lot this new year.
Pam,
A beautiful world. I guess we need to us "Eyes" to see the beautiful world. Too often we see that bad, but with God's help….you will have eyes to see the beautiful world. May God richly bless you.
I am so thankful to see you again and look forward to spending the new year with you.
Good health. Yes, Maxie. I'll pray God's blessing on good health for you. I enjoy talking with you the many times you are able to stop by and look forward to many more times.
Joanne,
I am so excited to stay in contact with you this way. I am missing you already from the loop. Being thankful for friends and modern medicine are great choices. Modern medicine is something I am using today with a nasty cold. I pray that you won't be in need of modern medicine this year, but also am thankful, that should the need arise, you will have access to it.

Each time I send out an email post, know that I am waving hi to you :)

Freedom. Great word. Praise God we can worship freely. I am also so very thankful for the soldiers and related workers who have fought to give us the freedom. We are so blessed!

You and me both, Cindy. What kind of tea did you have? My son bought me a new kind. The tin said "Paris". Not sure what is in it but it sure tastes good.
So nice to see you here today.

Suzanne Woods Fisher - Overcoming the Fear of Failure

We've all had something fail. Maybe a school assignment, baking a cake, changing a car tire. Well that was my shortlist confession. There really is a mile long list that you don't want to hear.  Talk about a quick drive to the blues. Even one negative comment in a barrel full of praises can take us down. Sigh. Why oh why do we remember the one negative one and forget the positives.  You are not alone. We all do this. But there is a way of escape. Today, Suzanne Woods Fisher is going to share her story. The Fear of Failure ā€œFor I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you. Do not fear; I will help youā€ (Isaiah 41:13, niv).              Years ago, before I received my first book contract, an editor returned a manuscript to me with the comment that the writing wasn’t up to her publishing house’s ā€œcaliber.ā€  Ouch!  That was a tough remark to swal...

A Memory Device For You

Photo Courtesy Recently I added a memory game to my week's activities.  It all started when I listened to one of those fabulous sermons in church and actually took notes. Later in the week, I recalled liking the sermon and searched for the notes, but lamented when I couldn't find the piece of paper. I quizzed myself: What was the general topic? I racked my brain…good grief this was Thursday and a thousand other things had happened when I asked the question. After a cup of tea, visualizing where I sat in the sanctuary, and using every other means possible to remember the general topic I finally answered the question.  The process to recall the rest of the good things said was an epic fail.  Although I have since started using a notebook I have created a memory game. On Monday, at any point during the day, I try to say the following without the use of my notes: General topic of the sermon Main book of the Bible used  Application p...

Laughter and Singing at the Homeless Shelter

It was a night to remember. A night to tell friends about. So I am... Fifty men, women, and teens rode in busses on icy expressways into the inner city. They poured out of the bus at a homeless shelter unsure where to go, what to do, or what to say. One led the pack through the main doors, pass security checkpoints, and on through winding hallways to a large room. At night, this room is filled, wall to wall, with cots, blankets, and at this time of year, cold homeless men, women, and children. On this evening before the night, hundreds of chairs formed straight rows and faced a platform.   The fifty set up sound and instrument equipment. Singers cozied in the limited platform space. Instrumentalists tuned their instruments.  A few residents poked their heads in the door. Intrigued, they came in and watched the first measures of several songs start, stop, start again. Microphone levels adjusted. The singers laughed. Chattered. The group stepped off to the side and...
