Mary here. I'm so happy Rachel is visiting with us this weekend. I asked Rachel to tell us how God led her on her writing journey. Here is what she said:
A Faith-Based Outlet
Since I was a child, I have
always loved to read and write. I remember going to the library when I was
little, and it was one of my favorite things to do. I truly was a book nerd.
Faith was a way of life for
me, having grown up a preacher’s daughter. But it wasn’t until I became an
adult that I realized my true passion and direction for writing—and that was
writing Christian fiction. It wasn’t something I specifically set out to do,
but when it happened it changed me.
I worked full time as a lawyer, and I was in
the midst of trial preparation. But I decided to enter a writing contest for
Love Inspired Suspense. A contest I almost didn’t enter because, I thought, do
I really have the time for this? There were a million reasons not to try, but I
did. I took a small step driven by faith. And with God’s help, I made the time.
Through that contest, I got my first contract with my Love Inspired Suspense
and my debut released in August of 2014. I am still writing for Love Inspired
Suspense, and I really enjoy it.
Writing has challenged me to
take my faith to a different level. For me, writing is something I love to do,
but it also provides me with a faith-based outlet of expression. In Trial & Tribulations, releasing on
November 17th, I decided to expand beyond the romantic suspense
genre. I took a risk and wrote a legal suspense about spiritual warfare. I
wouldn’t have been able to write a book like this had it not been for the
beliefs and teachings that were instilled in me at a young age. You don’t
realize it until much later in life how formative those early years really
are.
What’s more, I didn’t even
intend to write this book. I started writing another story, but for some reason
was led down this road. And in the process of writing the book and researching,
my faith has become even stronger.
That doesn’t mean the road has been easy—in fact it’s been really
difficult. Many roadblocks popped up along the way to getting this book ready
for publication. But I know that the Lord has been with me each step of the
way. I had to remind myself during this journey: The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?
I would encourage you to step out in faith today. You never know where the road is going to lead, but the journey with God by your side is amazing. I can’t wait to share this story with the world. The ebook is available for pre-order now, and print will be available on release day-November 17th.

A Windy Ridge
Legal Thriller #1
High-powered attorney Olivia Murray faces the biggest test of her career when she is assigned to represent Astral Tech, a New Age tech company, in a lawsuit filed by its biggest competitor. While Olivia is accustomed to hard fights in the courtroom, she arrives in Windy Ridge and discovers there is much more to this case than the legal claims—forces of darkness are at work.
Windy Ridge quickly turns from quiet Chicago suburb to spiritual battleground, and Olivia must rely on her faith to defend against legal and spiritual attacks. Although they are enemies in the courtroom, Olivia finds a friend and unlikely ally in opposing counsel, Grant Baxter. Once a skeptic about faith, he ultimately comes to her aid when she needs it most.
The battle between evil forces heats up in and out of the courtroom, pushing Olivia to the breaking point. Will she be able to help good triumph over evil, or will the town of Windy Ridge be torn apart?

This book sounds like a really good read. Thanks for the opportunity to win a copy.
I had a feeling you would be here today. This is your style of story. I had a place set for you, even told Rachel you'd be here. Hah! Was I right or was I right??
So nice to see you today, I find Rachel's book incredibly interesting also. And do all of us legal thriller readers realize the vast amount of research involved. Kudos to Rachel!!
How are you doing this weekend. I'm so happy to see you again. What also intrigues me is the depth of story in this book. This isn't just a courtroom story, it's much more. Oooooo. Great read alert!
I'm so glad you were able to meet Rachel today. Her God led story is one that truly inspires...and her books, page turners!! We are blessed!
Rachel thanks for telling us more about yourself. The fact that you've always loved to write from childhood is so neat :-) And you share your faith through your writing, this is why I love Christian fiction. I didn't realize you wrote for LIS, so I'll have to be checking those books out too since they're my favorite go-to books :-) "Expert Witness" is already on my want-to-read list. Great interview!
