Good News As Sweet As Spring Flowers

Confession-This post is one day late. You may not have noticed, but I did. It's the crazy planner in me.

Confession-I only feel a tad guilty because yesterday a project leaped forward...I'm talking the distance of the Sahara Desert leap.

I'll tell you about the project in a moment. First let's chat about leaps.

Spring time is planting time. A time to move forward with projects. No matter what your ability is or your limitations are, this is a time to get something done then celebrate the progress or completion.

I know. Sleeping in sounds good.

I know, it's nice to sit back and watch a TV program.

But, let me tell you about the fireworks that burst inside  when a project is moving forward. It doesn't take much. Plant a seed, pat the dirt over the opening, pour water to wake the seed from sleep. Next day, water the seed again and keep weeds from stealing nourishment from the soil.

Did you know a smile pokes on your face when you're working on a project and it is moving forward? You probably don't even realize it...but others see it. Sometimes we hum. We might take a silly dance step across the kitchen. The fireworks bursting inside show. People around us see.

Guess what happens next?

Those who see ask why we are happy.

We tell them. As we speak, we can't help but show the fireworks in our words and expressions.

Guess what happens next?

Those we told want to have the same experience. So they do something that makes them happy.

It becomes a viral Pollyanna!

All right. Are you ready to hear about my project?

This one has collected a lot of dust. Ah six years at least worth of dust.

First the incentive:  A drama teacher from a Christian school in Kansas contacted me last year. She said she enjoyed reading my Gladys Aylward stories on my God Loves Kids blog. She asked permission to use the material to make a play for her students. The play is scheduled for this Friday and I have been invited to attend. AND I AM GOING!! I am so excited. It will be an eleven hour drive, BUT I AM GOING!!

The drama teacher is also a second grade teacher. I wanted to show her my book suitable for her to read to her students, but it wasn't finished.

Second the project: I have spent long days editing the story then designed the cover.

The story is called William Worthington Watkins and the Cookie Snitchers. It is a story for elementary children about truth and forgiveness and has a boy for the main character.

The release date is set for May 5, 2017.

So, what do you think?

What project to you plan to do this spring/summer?

Congratulations on your soon to be released book. I am always thrilled to learn about new books that feature life lessons and teach good values to children. I always enjoy planting seed and watching new growth emerge and grow and I will be doing that with my gardening and with caring for my granddaughter this summer. She is three now and she is like a sponge so I need to make sure she is soaking in a love for nature and a love for God!
It is exciting about the play also!
Blessings!

Congratulations on your new book. Congratulations on your other book becoming a play. Our son used to live in Kansas. It was a minimum 10 hour drive for us. I always made Hubby stay in a motel one night on our way out. The way back was another story. We had to drive it straight through. Just got back from Florida this past Saturday. I plan on researching and writing two dramas for church and some special meditations. And I intend to get more done on my collection of meditations, I plan to get published. Also, work registration and preregistration for Vacation Bible School.
Way to go! Now this is going to be a wild and fun summer for you!! Congratulations.

It's been about two years since and I thought of that Christlike spirit when I noticed her new book release. I asked Laura to share with us the journey God has led her on for her writing career. Of course she graciously agreed. Here is what she said: You Were Born For Nothing Less Thanks so much for having me here, Mary. It’s always a joy to revisit my writing journey as it stays fresh and is always humbling to think how God led me to this place.  In a nutshell… I’ve written stories – historical fiction only – since I was seven years old. I think I came into the world hardwired to write. I didn’t

Here is what she wrote: My Journey As a Christian Romance Writer … My journey as a romance author actually came LONG before my journey with God. It happened the moment I read Gone With the Wind at the age of twelve. The instant that Scarlett seared Rhett with a look on the winding staircase of Twelve Oaks, I was hooked, and my “romance-writing career” began with a 150-page, single-spaced ms. entitled When Tomorrow C

Mary here.     I asked Terri: how has God led  you on your writing journey? Here is what she said:   Dreams God Has for Me Thank you Mary for hosting me today. When America was attacked in September 2011, the world changed. I remember my heart hurt for those who had suffered and died. I thought how could my writing ever mean anything to anyone when there were more important issues going on in the world.  I had been writing and trying to publish for eight years at that point and was getting discouraged. I had begun to think maybe it was time to let the dream of publishing go.  A few weeks after 9/11 my women’s Bible study went for a weekend retreat to the beach. The theme of the retreat was Dream Big. Throughout the weekend I kept wondering what God would want me to dream
